- Barack Obama’s Government will be operational from 21st of January 2013. He is the 44th President in the history of United States of America since 1789 when the first President, George Washington took the responsibility of the Independent United States of America. This is the second term of Barack Obama as U.S. President. Mr. Obama will take the oath at West Front, U.S. Capitol, which will be administered by the 17th Chief Justice of the United States – John Glover Roberts (Jr.). Mr. Obama will swear the Lincoln Bible and a Bible owned by Martin Luther King (Jr.) in time of his Presidential Oath. Last time in 20th January 2009, he took the oath as the 43rd President.
- Most awaiting, another world class event, the ICC Cricket One Day International (ODI) World Cup Tournament for Women will be played during 31st January and 17th February in Mumbai, Maharastra. This premier International Cricket Championship has been held every four years.

- Delhi will experience the XII (Twelfth) South Asian Games (SAG). The tentative schedule of the Games will be 13th–21st February 2013. This is the third time India hosting this South Asian mega sports event which was formerly known as South Asian Federation Games (SAF Games). India hosted the III (Third) SAF Games in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) for the first time and the Seventh (VII) SAF Games in Chennai (formerly Madras) in 1987 and 1995 respectively. This year, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka alongwith India, will take part in this largest sporting and games meet of South Asian countries who are the member of SAARC. The next events XIII (thirteenth) South Asian Games (SAG) will be held in Kathmandu (Nepal) and XIV (fourteenth) South Asian Games (SAG) will be in Hambantota (Sri Lanka) in 2014 and 2016 respectively. The I (first) SAF Games was held in Kathmandu in Nepal in 1984.
- February 2013 will be more spicy as the Oscar Award Ceremony will be there, which is officially named as 85th Academy Awards, and the same is going to be held in Los Angeles, California, United States. This pristine movie award is conferred to recognize the best talents not only in Hollywood but also around the world. This year, for every Indians, the Oscar is going to be more attractive as an Indian story, ‘Life of Pi’ (a 2012 American adventure drama filmed on a Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name written by Canadian novelist Yann Martel in 2001) has already snatched a bagful of nominations which is second in the row. Moreover, Bombay Jayashri, the Carnatic vocalist and Toronto based composer Mychael Danna have also been nominated for an Oscar in the category of Original Song (score). This Canadian music composer has conferred with the Golden Globe Award 2013 for Life of Pi in the same category, i.e. Original music score on 14 January 2013 in the 70th Annual Golden Globe Award Ceremony.
