As we know that every year PSC, West Bengal organizing State level three (3) tier competitive examination to recruit the cadres in the different services of West Bengal including Civil Service (WBCS), Police Service (WBPS), Commercial Tax Service (WBCTS), Excise Service (WBES), Registration and Stamp Revenue Service (WBR&SRS), Labour Service (WBLS), Co-operative Service (WBCOS), Agricultural Income Tax Service (WBAITS) and so on.

Certain vacancies may be reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes of West Bengal declared as such by the Govt. of West Bengal. Some vacancies may also be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (40% and above) provided that they are otherwise suitable and possess the capacity to perform the duties attached to the post. The benefits of reservation of vacancies for S.C/S.T/B.C. candidates are admissible to S.C./S.T./B.C. candidates of West Bengal only. Vacancy or Intake Capacity in West Bengal Civil Service Exam (WBCS)
As per the stat of previous years, mainly if we go through the final selection results of WBCS 2009 & WBCS 2010, then a clear picture will be visible regarding the number of vacancy and posts in different services of WBCS.
Group-A Services Vacancy: Average vacancy was more than four hundred (400+ posts). In WBCS 2010, almost 450 Gazzeted officers were recruited in various Group-A Services under WBCS (Exe) & etc Services Exam.
Group-B Services Vacancy: Average vacancy was around less than hundred (50-80 posts). In WBCS 2010, almost 75 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) were recruited in Group-B Services under WBCS (Exe) & etc Services Exam.
Group-C Services Vacancy: Average vacancy was more than four hundred (400+ posts). In WBCS 2010, almost 450 gazetted as well as non-gazetted officers were recruited in various Group-C Services under WBCS (Exe) & etc Services Exam.
Group-D Services Vacancy: Average vacancy was more than hundred (100+ posts). In WBCS 2010, almost 115 non-gazetted officers were recruited in various Group-D Services under WBCS (Exe) & etc Services Exam.
